Bruna Pigato "U Baccan" '20

U Baccan means "the boss" in local dialect, referring to none other than Ricardo Bruna. This is a very limited bottling of 50-70+ year old Pigato vines. This is a blend of two vineyard sites, Garaxin, as well as the Le Russghine site, where Pigato is planted in the classic red clay soils of Liguria. After maceration on its lees, the wine is then aged in Austrian acacia casks for at least 10 months, including batonnage. This wine has both incredible depth and purity. Aromatic herbs such as sage and thyme, compliment ripe, fleshy fruit, reminiscent of peach and mango, citrus peel, and honey and mineralogy. On the palate, it is round with hints of salted almonds
